Ed. #5 - It's Supper Time!

"Wanna have dinner tonight?", you say to someone as you plan to share good food and conversation some evening. However, when I was a kid on the farm we called the evening meal "Supper". It was usually a relaxing meal after a hard day's work where we discussed the days events and tomorrow's plans. There is someone else who used the term "Supper" and it was Jesus of Nazareth. In Rev. 3:20 Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: If any man hears my voice (his knocking at your door is not a conventional knuckles rapping on wood knock, but his still small voice speaking to your heart), and opens the door (it is possible to hear his voice and still not open the door to him), I will come in to him(He won't come in until you open the door and invite him in. You know he has the capability to walk through shut doors, but he won't without an invitation. When anybody comes to your door they don't just walk right in without your inviting them, neither will Jesus) and Sup with him (Sup is the prefix for Supper which was the primary meal of the day in Jesus' time and was the evening meal and its intent is that there be close fellowship with someone with whom you are willing to share your intimate thoughts without fear of condemnation. Also "Sup" in the Strong's Concordance is the Greek word, deipneo, which means chief meal of the day and a time of intimate sharing), and he with me. (Jesus will dine and fellowship with you and you will dine and have fellowship with him, like friends).
It is my hope that we all would find the time everyday to invite Jesus in to "Sup" with us and let him share spiritual food with us. It doesn't have to be in the evening but anytime we hear his "voice" knocking at our door. Rom. 14:17 - for the Kingdom of God is not meat (or food) and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. If we will do this regularly we will have peace and joy and we will know we have "Supped" with him and not feel like we have rushed through a meal at a fast food restaurant. This will be strong spiritual food that will strenthen us now and will last for an eternity.
Look for the next Good News Worth Reporting.
